2 Repeaters Installed: Prosser and Mount Defiance

2 New Repeaters were installed and operational this past Saturday August 4, 2023. The information on both repeaters has been added to the repeater list and repeater pages. The info may be further “refined” soon.

Prosser will cover the coverage hole on I-82 and highway 22 between the Tri-Cities/Richland and Yakima and parts of I-84 as well. The owner of the Prosser VHF repeater Is Clay, N7QNM

Mount Defiance covers a huge area. The I-84 Group is responsible for this repeater! Here’s the Press Release from the I-84 Group:

I-84 Group News Release – August 5, 2023

“The I-84 Group installed a new open DMR Repeater on Mount Defiance near Hood
River, Oregon on August 4th. The UHF frequency is on 443.0875 MHz and the Color
Code is 1.”

“Mount Defiance is vehicle breaking remote access site that typically requires a snowcat
6 to 7 months out of the year.”

“This wide-area repeater covers portions of the I-84 corridor from Portland to Biggs
Junction, Oregon Route 35, multiple Oregon and Washington Counties, and the Gifford
Pinchot and Mount Hood National Forest backcountry.”

“A special thanks to Jim KA7AGH, Josh K7OSH, Paul K7PN, Josh Thornberg and
Custom Metalworks for their installation efforts and Mike N07RF for his behind-the-
scenes support.”

“The I-84 Group presently sponsors 14 open and unrestricted DMR repeaters dedicated to
the PNW Digital Network for the enjoyment of any licensed Amateur Radio Operator to
