PNWDigital "Official" Starter Codeplug for the Cotre C001D CPS ver: 5.0.0.20, by NO7RF, 1-21-22 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The radio is not endorsed by PNWDigital, but they can be programmed correctly for PNWDigital's network. For the latest information, go to dmr.icu/files/ and drill down into Codeplugs. The codeplugs, more info and screenshots are in the Cotre directory. If you must get a $21 Cotre, upgrade to the C004D model at about $30. See our Cotre webpage for much more information at: dmr.icu/cotre/ As they are inexpensive, becoming more popular and come with defaults that do not work on the PNWDigital network, so we are attempting to support this radio but suggest you avoid them. If you have one of these radios, load our codeplug into CPS and look at it. You don't need to use it nor write it to your radio if you do not wish to do so. But the settings that we publish work the best on our network and it should be your starting point to cusomize it to a repeater that works for you. These radios likely are fine for hotspot and simplex use. We have not evaluated analog performance Having one or seven radios for your backpack, glovebox, trunk, or nabor's trashcan are fine as well. But your DMR experience should not be based (solely) on this hardware. Our recommended HT is the Anytone 878-I or II at about $200 our cost. This info file is my personal opinion that is worth not much less than you paid for this Cotre C001D radio. We encourage others to submit their codeplugs to be enable new users to get up to speed in their areas sooner and easier. Here's the info on the radio and this specific codeplug. The PNWD settings are in the codeplugs directory. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This is a 2 watt, 32 channel radio with no display and only 16 channels can be made available in the single zone. So some creative progamming is needed. You will be flying blind using this radio. The DMR experience is much better than what you will feel. So, Baldi UHF was selected for populating most of the zone with talkgroups. We suggest that you change the Rx and TX frequency pairs to suuport your local favorite PNWDigital repeater. You can scan on any of the channels 1-14 and hear all the talkgroups active on both timeslots, on that repeater. Is is pseudo digital monitor or promiscuous mode. Look at the channel chart image also in this directory. We have included many of the west coast repeaters from Bellingham down to Portland to fill the rest of the channel space. They are not directly available but is you select via a single channel (15) that can scan all of the repeaters and listen to activity on their timeslot 2. The standard DMR simplex channel is channel 16. This honestly is more to show a user how to program their radio customly as this radio is so limited. All channels are set to high power (2 watts). This really is quite low power for repeater use in most cases as external antenna adapters do not work for this goundless connector. The side button is set for Short Press: Scan On/Off toggle and Long Press: Monitor (which is untested) ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Much of this radio is untested. But if you use our settings, then the user experience as well as the radios ability to work on the network, is OK. But bottom line, if you serious about DMR, this Cracker Jack box prize Cotre C001D radio is below a Boafeng on the flake scale. IMHO
